Very green

The weird up and down weather continues.  I remind myself over and over again that it is very green.  I*ve not bought annuals for the planters in front and back, though the perennials seems to love this bizarre weather.  It is good to watch them grow more and more leaves, waiting for the next burst of sun and warm.  The recent rain brought down a layer of purple from our redbud tree.  We will walk to the car this morning on a carpet of flowers.  Royalty.  Perspective is important :)

Colder and wetter,
But the redbud has rained purple buds
On the grass and sidewalk,
Still enough on the tree
To spare,
To rain tomorrow,
Continue to bless
the grass.
At least it is green
and cold.
The rhubarb has sent up its bloom stalk
Such as a rhubarb bloom
Is.
Almost like pale green broccoli,
It still counts.
Back of the garage the lilies of the valley
Are thick among the peonies.
They wait for their stalks
Of white bells.
They will curve
Small and graceful,
Fragrant.
Now they are very green,
At least they are green.
I remind myself to see the green
The purple bud rain
On the grass.
