Bird niches

The juncos
Are still here
Even as the red wings
Have arrived,
Each has staked out
His own particular
Tree.
The robins
Move in
More slowly,
It seems they wait
For winter birds
To move on.
I wonder
About bird niches,
One takes over
Where the other
Leaves off.
