On incremental change

Flying donkey image courtesy of the Mary Tyler Moore show. I don't remember who said it, but I do remember it was in relation to Ted, the rather buffoonish newscaster.

Sometimes
Someone behaves
In a completely uncharacteristic way.
For a split second
We believe
He has changed,
She has changed
Completely.
Instead
May we note the behavior
Applaud
Maybe
Paint rings around it,
See the beginning
Of the Kingdom Come.
For a split second
May we see
The Second Coming
And give thanks.

When a donkey flies
We don’t blame him
For not staying in the air
Very long.

May we realize
We are all donkeys.
See the beginning
Of the Kingdom Come.
For a split second
May we see
The Second Coming
And give thanks.

When a donkey flies
We don’t blame him
For not staying in the air
Very long.

May we realize
We are all donkeys.
