Lo the rhubarb

Thank God for rhubarb.

Clouds and sun
Come and go
Or maybe it’s me
Opening
Closing
My eyes.
They may indeed
Be stationary.
The wind blows strong
Now it is quiet.
Perhaps it is me
Imagining spring
Hoping for summer
Thinking change
Is on the horizon.
Maybe change
Will blow in.
Lo the rhubarb
Holds true
Anchors the ground
Steadfast.

Feet on the floor

One of those days.

Some days require
Feet flat on the floor
Anchoring the body
Like my yoga lesson
On the four points
Of each foot.
Some days require
Attention to where exactly
I place each foot
One in front of the other
Even if it means
Holding onto the railing
Or even
Both railings.
Some days require
A different sort of anchor.
Today is one of
Those days.
Tomorrow may be
As well.
Today I practice
Feet flat on the floor
Four points on each foot.

Anchored

It is interesting the things that anchor me. They differ from day to day. Today it is the tree outside the office window seen through two-thirds of my office window.

The snow is one-third up my office window.
I can still see the crooked pine
Through the top two-thirds
So all is well
Here in this cozy space,
Here where I pray for clients
Seen and unseen;
Here where it occurs to me
Once again
All is very well.
