Plaid

Ah dreams.

In a dream last night
Everyone wore
A short-sleeved
Plaid shirt
Cotton
Different patterns.
I sorted them
Into categories.
So many resisted
Sorting.
I thought
I was being helpful.
Soon
I stood back
And watched.

Squirrels

Sometimes watching animals helps.

I watch the squirrels.
They own the backyard like no
Other. They own it.

Therapy is

So many things count as therapy (I think).  I woke up this morning remembering those "Love is..." cartoons.  Therapy is many things.  It depends upon the one asking and the one giving. It means learning to ask the right questions... like "Do I want help?" instead of only "Do I need help?"  Jesus was good at such questions: "Do you want to be healed?"  Me?  Need healing?  You can't be asking me this, really! How could I possibly need anything?  Me.  Do I want to be healed? I think so. Sometimes I even pay.

Therapy is for
The times we want help (really)
Sometimes we even pay.

Pain assistance

Caller ID has helped us know what calls to answer.  Most often my beloved answers any call and has conversations with strangers regarding how we might invest our money, or who we will vote for.  Neither one of us has answered the Pain Assistance calls, but curiosity may win out tomorrow.

Since coming home
We have received five calls
From
Pain Assistance.
Caller ID
Is a wonderful thing.
We have not answered
The call
Five times now.
We speculate
About who or what
It might be,
What pain
They mean to address.
We think for now
We will not answer
But perhaps tomorrow
Curiosity may win
We will see then
How we got on their list.
We will see then
What pain
They promise
To address.

High jump

Life has a way of placing hurdles, high jumps, long jumps, sometimes an endless series of stairs in our path.  I am grateful to have trainers (physical, mental, spiritual trainers).  I am also grateful to have learned, albeit in later years, to know and ask for such help.

We navigated
The first post-Easter hurdle,
Await number two.
