God's ideas

Wow. What a morning. So much in bits and pieces. Then there are the lilies of the valley, the stray white violets, more columbine in front. All God's ideas. God spreads them out in places I least expect. I remember the free haircut lady from Wednesday.

The messages:
They come
In whole:
In bits and pieces.
The messages:
Some are cause for joy
Some require time
On the knees,
Then more time
On the knees
Before getting up,
Getting dressed,
Noting the lilies of the valley
Spread behind the peonies
Behind the garage;
Noting the wild strawberries,
The white violets
Interspersed,
All unplanted by me;
God’s idea it seems.
God has good ideas
Sometimes it’s important
To find them
Even when they hide
Behind the garage.

Rosebush

It seems the world is in full bud and bloom whether I have paid attention, or not.

The rosebush
I never pay attention to
Has buds this year
To beat the band.
The peony behind the garage
Promised pink
Once I turned the corner.
I forgot
It was there.
I wonder what else lurks
Despite me
In spite of me
Maybe even simply
To delight me
With potential bloom.

Peonies, behind the garage

Maybe this is the week to monitor the out of sight peonies behind the garage.  I often forget.

When the peonies
Next to the church door
Bloom,
Then grow blowsy,
I know it will be at least two weeks
Before I can expect
My out of sight,
Out of mind,
Behind the garage
Peonies
To show pink
At last.
Sometimes I forget
To count the days.
Sometimes I forget
To look.
I miss them entirely,
Even the blowsy stage.
Whoever planted them
Must have needed reason
To travel back there
Out of sight
Out of mind
Behind the garage.
