We all take turns
As angels,
Taking charge
Over those who sleep.
No wings:
Just hands
And eyes
And ears.
Sometimes even feet
To bear us
To the caring place.
The kitten is sound asleep
On my chest.
Today I am angel
To a one pound calico kitten.
