Who we saw at church today

I never quite know who I will see.

A young girl
In pink rubber rain boots;
A man
In quick recovery
From angioplasty;
A client or two;
Myself
Dizzy with barometric changes.
Home from church
We see the cats
The turtle
Our own particular chairs
The traditional
Sunday afternoon nap.

Weariness abides

Barometer has been wonky all day. Spring weather change coming on. I did not write this morning. Perhaps tomorrow will offer clear brain. If not, maybe Friday.

Weariness abides.
So much is gone of today.
Tomorrow I write.

The measure of things

It is Wednesday in Holy Week. I do like spring but these days all my measures are off-kilter. When my brain comes up with sphygmometer and I look it up (ain't Google wonderful), I find it's the technical word for a blood pressure cuff. Oh yeah, that's been off too. Still, my brain is working. Way to go, brain.

Finally spring weather.
This will take
A reorientation
Not a bad one but still
Change comes harder these days
My brain moves
With the barometer
With the thermometer
Even it seems
With the odometer.
Out of the depths
My brain comes up with
Sphygmometer
I had to look up
The meaning.
I must have learned it somewhere.
Way to go, brain,
Way to go.
All is not lost in this change
To spring.

Stationary front

Maybe I have a new vocation as a barometer.  I could sell my services to the weather map people.  Still, I*m not sure there*s a lot of call for human barometers when other instruments are so much more scientific.  Yesterday the stationary front kept me at home.  While sitting at home, a job possibility plopped in my lap.  Perhaps it was on the leading/trailing edge of the stationary front.  Today is clear.  Time to pursue new things.

Yesterday the stationary front
Moved back and forth
Back and forth.
The weather could not
Make up its mind:
Cold or warm,
Sun or rain.
The front
Moved back and forth,
Back and forth.
The stationary front
Of my brain
Moved with it:
Back and forth,
Back and forth.
By day*s end
I finally saw the world
Straight on.
The front finally
Moved east.

Weather prediction

Some people have arthritic joints that predict rain.  Me?  I have a brain subject to barometric pressure.  I am beginning to see it as an adventure.  I continue grateful for prisms in my glasses.

It seems my brain
Registers barometric pressure.
The electrical currents
Are dismantled
Dismembered
Unplugged
Sometimes even
Reconnected
In unexpected ways.
I watch the colors
Of fluorescent light,
Feel the buzz.
I think we might get snow
Perhaps rain
Maybe there will be dancing
In the puddles
In the streets
Or everything will freeze;
Ice skating will be the option
Of choice.
