Fifteen binders

Somehow it seems wrong to title any of my reflections. Someone may be predisposed to not take from them what they need to read. Take what you need. Release what you don't. May your life be filled with more than fifteen binders. May you not save those binders, but instead, fill your own, and then... give them away.

I have fifteen zippered binders
Of reflections,
Each in its own
Plastic page.
Then there’s the blog,
Some of which are in
The binders.
Most are not.
I tell my daughter
She may decide what to do
With anything I leave behind,
Even the reflections.
They’re all on the blog
She says.
Oh no they’re not,
I say.
What do we leave behind us?
What do we leave?
Everything encased.
Everything left.
Fifteen binders
Filled with life.
Everything does not fit
On a blog.
I know that.
I know.
Everyone has way more
Than fifteen binders
Full of life.
There is no vault
To save it all.

I still look to see

It is rather odd to post things to a daily blog, to an unseen, mostly unheard from, audience.  Some days I am most popular in Russia.

I still look to see
How many hits I got
Today,
Whether I am more popular
In the US
Russia
Or the Ukraine
As if it really matters
Even though
It doesn’t really matter.
Still I am curious
Who is looking
And from where.

Spam

Have you checked your spam folder recently?  I admit I am not the most diligent spam checker.  Usually I check it when my blog entry doesn't show in my inbox.   Odd that something so regular ends up in spam. Maybe I used a spam word, like all the entries from foreign countries asking for money.  Maybe Julian of Norwich is suspect... somehow.  I'm sure she is.  Any post declaring that All will be well, and all manner of things will be well is potentially... suspect.  Potentially spam-worthy.

I find the oddest things
In spam,
Things I choose to see
Every day
Still
These things
Randomly choose
To hide
Out of sight.
Today my blog went missing.
I wonder
What sends things packing
To Spam,
The camping breakfast meat
It used to taste oh so fine
Fried over a campfire
Spam
I understand for Koreans
It is a delicacy
Spam
Now it is a category
For things dumped
After thirty days
The oddest things
Even things I choose to see
Every day.
