Wimp

I believe life is a series of realizations (among other things). I admit being tempted to evict the wimp from my existence, I even wrote Begone, Wimp, as part of this reflection... then took it out and added hospitality into the mix,

I come to myself.
I realize the wimp
Has inhabited my body.
She hid in the crevasse,
The abyss.
I stored things there.
I wonder how long
She has spoken for me.
I wonder at her words;
Words that moderate
What I say out loud.
There you are.
I will hold your hand,
Walk with you
Around the block,
I will speak for myself.
I will invite you
To warm yourself
In the sunshine
With the cats
On this winter day.

Realization

The haiku is often like a burp. It comes on me suddenly, even if it has been percolating for minutes, hours, days, months, even years. Trust the process I remind myself. Trust the process. It's all process. Write it down. Even if it's short, not fully developed.

I realize
Slowly I realize
It’s time to expand.

Content

Once more I read a book and realize I've been doing these things for years. I would name the book, but it doesn't seem to matter. Somehow, I suspect we all name these things in different ways. So, read a book...but don't forget to look out the window afterward.

I finished the book.
Once more
I realize things
I have been doing
All along,
I just named them
In a different way.
I could write a book
I think
I could write a book.
Instead
These are the things
I write,
Content in the ways
Others have named them,
Content to recommend
The book to others,
Content to write about
Snow and birds
Offer up possibilities,
Ways to view the world
Read this book
I say
Then look out the window.
