I have been blessed this week by my sister. It has been a week of difficulty and uncertainty. Yesterday was the retina specialist. Friday is the neuro-ophthalmologist who has squeezed me in. One more MRI tomorrow, more blood tests. And by the way we*re referring you to a urologist. Right. My sister Jane decided to take the train to see me (24 hours from Santa Fe) last weekend. I put her on the train at noon today. 24 more hours home. We caught up on sister things. It was exactly right. I didn*t know enough to ask her to come, but I did know enough to say thank you when she told me she was coming.
A blessing.
She shows up at the perfect time
My sister,
Linked from Santa Fe,
Comes in exactly right,
Stays exactly right,
Says exactly the right things.
She allows me to see
That I am so much more than my eyes,
When my left eye fails
To pass the color charts,
My right eye fails to compensate.
My sister,
Linked from Santa Fe,
Comes when I don*t know enough
To call her,
But do know just enough to say
Yes, thank you,
It would be wonderful
If you would come.
And she does.
Shows up at the perfect time,
Stays exactly right,
Says exactly the right things,
Allows me to see.
