Luminaria

We all do different things to get ready for Jesus to be born.

We drove home from the airport yesterday.
All was brown with traces still
Of green.
In the next community over,
White bags line the street.
Evenly spaced,
They wait
For tonight
To be lit.
They wait
To glow with the entrance
Of the Christ Child
Into time and space
Into Green and brown
And snow (if it comes).
They wait for tonight
to announce the birth,
Evenly spaced
On Irving Park Road.
