Women as starfish

Here I am in Ohio, at the Maria Stein Spiritual Center with the Daughters of the King.  Who knew Maria Stein was a town?  I am here thinking about how hot it is outside, how cool inside, and what a wonderful assortment of women (or starfish... you know the starfish thrower story, right?).   Stars in their crowns.  Even though I am part of the presentations, I think I may be a starfish as well, though I*m not quite ready to be tossed back into the sea.  Being beached here awhile is just fine, though.  Home tomorrow.

It matters to this one
I think.
I meet starfish up close and personal
Spiny and smooth
Walk the beach of the retreat center
Listen to the women
All ages shapes sizes
Stars in their crowns
Smooth and spiny,
Stars clear in the sand.
They hang out in the halls
Walk the Stations
Visit the relics
Shimmer in the sun.
It matters to this one
I listen and watch and think,
It matters to this one.
They meet me
Spiny and smooth
Stars in my crown
Stars
I think
It matters to this one.
It matters to me.
