Clear head

Wild weather yesterday.  Wild weather means different things on different days.  Yesterday two fronts collided over the upper Midwest. I don't know which one won, except that there were tornadoes to the south of us, and it all moved over Northern Indiana and Lake Michigan to cause its trouble there.

Today I wake up grateful
For a clear head,
Settled weather,
The cat asleep
On the insulated grocery bag,
My beloved at the dining table,
Coffee warm
In his hands.
Today I wake up
With simple joys,
The means
To enjoy them.
I drink my coffee
From the dinosaur mug,
A modified stegosaurus.
A glint of sun
Cracks through the clouds,
Names the gratefulness I feel
On this day,
No words necessary.
